Our multilingual consulting team has many years of experience working with customers in medicine, dentistry, watchmaking, equipment engineering, keying industry, mechanical engineering, and machinery. Thanks to these valuable
resources, we are able to develop personalized tools for our customers to
maximize their productivity and quality. If desired, we include a test report with every cutting tool we develop regardless of its intended industrial application.
Gear technology plays an important role in the automotive and transmission industries. We are familiar with all established
standards for gears and workpieces that our customers produce using hobs and gear cutters from Gloor, and at the same time we are specialized in the precise design of custom profiles. Our gear/hob cutters are logarithmically relief grinded, giving them a constant profile. This means that the milling cutters can be
reground very easily and retain their shape when reground.
Very high precision is required for the medical field, and materials that are difficult to machine are often used. We can develop the right solution for processing even the most difficult materials. Workpieces, such as bone screws, implants, and joints (which are our main specialization) also have extremely low dimensional
tolerances. Therefore, this area requires work at the µm scale. Users of our tools need to rely on a stable and safe process that can be highly automated and offers very high productivity for unmanned 24-hour production. Gloor guarantees validated cutting tools of constant quality as well as 100% traceability of all
processes and procedures up to the issuance of the prototype to the customer.
Workpieces that are used in the watchmaking industry, which are usually easily machinable, require both very precise and careful processing and a very good surface quality. These workpieces can include filigree parts, such as watch screws, and there may also be norms and standards that govern how these parts must be
processed. More often, however, customers have very
individualized requirements for the profile and the design of our cutting tools, such as profile and form milling cutters or thread milling cutters and hob cutters. This is particularly important for the visible parts of watches, which must be easy to mill and have a high optical surface quality. This is achieved by applying the
appropriate coating to our cutting tools. A high-quality and ideally composed cutting tool coating helps to ensure the surface quality of your workpiece.
Turning technology is often used to produce inner and outer threads on parts. This requires a tool that we at Gloor
manufacture according to the customer's drawings. This can be a milling tool, an insert, or a turning tool. For the inner and outer shape of a workpiece, we produce shape-cutting inserts that are able to transfer specific shapes exactly 1:1 onto a workpiece. For you as our customer, this means increased machining productivity.
Our customers from the locksmiths industry mainly make keys from blanks of nickel silver. For this branch of production, we at Gloor produce key form cutters for this application. Reversible keys with notches or dimples are common in Switzerland. This type of key is strongly standardized, and therefore it does not require any special tools. In order to make conventional keys with serrated notches that are in common use, we manufacture key shape cutters that can mill the most precise profile tolerances. Conventional keys have practically no standards but come in an enormous range of variants that can differ from each other by the smallest amounts in order to lower the statistical probability that a single key can open two different locks. Therefore, the profile tolerances are low. A key form cutter is often used to produce very small numbers of pieces. In the keying industry, it is very important to be able to meet short lead times, for which Gloor is your partner and locksmith supplies vendor of choice.
As in the medical industry, the dental field also requires materials that are difficult to machine. Customers in this industry work
according to validated processes. Cutting tools are primarily
required to fasten mechanical components such as gears into
dental instruments. Certain ISO standards must be met when
fulfilling orders for the dental industry, but as a vendor of dentist supplies, we mainly produce highly customized orders for suppliers.
While no special cutters are required for classic mechanical
engineering applications, there is international demand for these in precision mechanics and other niche areas within the very broad area of mechanical engineering. This may also include other
industries not mentioned above. We also service contractors
providing contract manufacturing services of products such as screws. Companies that manufacture a product on a contract
basis for other businesses are able to obtain the specialized
cutting tools that they need from Gloor. They can get the best
cost-benefit ratio along with expert technical advice and execution.
